Vehicles fall into a weird category with a lot of systems. If someone wants to buy something, they roll Resources. I'd argue that Fate Core already has a wealth system, with the Resources skill. I'll go ahead and post some of the specific issues I wish to address both here and as the thread (hopefully) picks up steam and discourse. Do you think I'm on the right track here? Am I trying to do too much integrating vehicles, gear, wealth, and the Force right off the bat? Are there any big problems I you foresee that I might be missing? A better system I might consider? So, at the start I'd love to get some opinions from other fans of Star Wars and of Fate (or both, like me).

The last big hurdle is how to deal with The Force itself, and how to do so in a balanced fashion that doesn't horribly disadvantage anyone whose not Force Sensitive. I've spent a good amount of time drawing up some potential character creation rules and have a framework in mind for the beginnings of a campaign (adaptable towards a few different eras), but what I really need is some help vetting the various elements I have in mind, especially where utilizing Fate's Extras for Gear, Wealth, and Vehicles are concerned. To my mind, it's a potentially tremendous fit, as Fate is a great system for conveying the pulpy, action & adventure which characterizes Star Wars, and has plenty of dials and nobs for factoring in the otherwise potentially disparate sci-fi/fantasy elements of Star Wars technology, vehicles, and the Force.

Rather than spend the whole time bagging on another system however, I'd like to open up discussion in regards to adapting the myriad elements of what makes a Star Wars game to the latest edition of Fate as published by Evil Hat Productions. I've never been a fan of such crunchy and cumbersome system, especially given the exhausting number of sourcebooks necessary to cover equipment, vehicles, technology, not to mention the Force in the Star Wars Galaxy, and without an SRD the use of books for various eras, campaigns, and certain more exotic archetypes can be quite prohibitive (to say nothing of the balance issues between Force Users and regular folks). I have a Star Wars Campaign I'd very much like to run, but I'm not a fan at all of Star Wars D20 or Saga Edition.
